Why have a Youth Parliament?
To learn more about this great European river and support the local residents who wish to give a new lease of life to rivers!
So that you can have your say on a local scale – and on a European scale. You are the ones who will drink the water of tomorrow!
So you can take concrete action in favour of water and your quality of life today and in the future.
So you can meet other Rhine residents, share your knowledge and TAKE ACTION TOGETHER!
5 days of discovery and work!
Direct immersion in the field!
Participate in the current project on the Rheindorfer river led by the City of Bonn!
Visit the project, diagnose the state of the river, meet local residents, technicians, fisher folk, associations etc.
Experience a life-sized role play in teams, with people from the field, and take up the challenge of proposing the best solutions for the future of the Rheindorfer river project!
Meetings with experts on the Rhine to find out more and debate the issues at stake.
Workshops to formulate messages and projects that will be validated by vote (democratic process).
Election of representatives (Presidents of the Youth Parliament for the Rhine) who will chair the final sessions.
The final parliamentary session will be held in Bonn Town Hall, attended by the press, and political figures from the Rhine basin, where the results will be presented.
And of course time for relaxation and partying is planned!
Some of the concrete results expected!
Transmit the key messages of the week in the form of a text or other creative form (such as a video spot for instance)
Propose original projects for the Rhine that will help local citizens take action
And after the event...
The political involvement of the parliament, encouraging the participation of the young parliamentarians for the Rhine in local and regional conferences and workshops on water.
For example: The International Expo in Zaragoza in Summer 2008, the UN Conference on Biodiversity in Bonn in May 2008, meetings of the International Commission for the Rhine, local and national events etc.
the development of specific projects by one or more delegations, implemented with the help of Water Solidarity Europe and project partners
